About the TSV to CSV
When you copy a range of cells from Excel, Google Sheets or LibreOffice, the clipboard holds TSV: columns separated by tabs and rows by line breaks. Paste it here to get a CSV file you can commit, import or send to an API.
Commas are common in text, so the writer quotes any field that contains the output delimiter, a double quote, a line break or leading/trailing spaces. Quotes inside a value are doubled: She said "hi" becomes "She said ""hi""", as RFC 4180 requires. Choose semicolon or pipe output if the file goes to software that expects them.
Quoted multi-line cells, which spreadsheets produce when a cell contains Alt+Enter line breaks, are parsed correctly. The conversion happens in your browser.
Example: a copied row 3 Linus Torvalds Portland, OR becomes 3,Linus Torvalds,"Portland, OR". The header row is kept as the first CSV line. Lines are joined with \n; most tools, including Excel, Python's csv module and PostgreSQL COPY, accept that as well as the CRLF line endings RFC 4180 describes.
How to use it
- Paste tab-separated text or open a .tsv file.
- Pick the output delimiter and whether to quote every field.
- Copy the CSV or download converted.csv.
