About the XML Sitemap Generator
A sitemap lists the canonical URLs of a site so that search engines discover them without following links. The sitemaps.org 0.9 protocol requires UTF-8, absolute URLs with the same scheme and host as the sitemap, entity escaping of &, ', ", < and >, and URLs shorter than 2,048 characters. The generator percent-encodes non-ASCII paths, converts international domain names to Punycode and reports every line it cannot use, with its line number.
One sitemap may hold at most 50,000 URLs and 50 MB uncompressed. Longer lists are split into sitemap-1.xml, sitemap-2.xml… with a sitemap index that points to them; you submit only the index. lastmod uses the W3C Datetime format (2026-03-14 or 2026-03-14T09:30:00+00:00) and should be the date of the last significant change to the page. Google ignores changefreq and priority, and trusts lastmod only if it proves accurate.
This tool does not crawl. A page in the browser cannot fetch the pages of another site: the same-origin policy blocks the responses unless that site sends CORS headers, so online generators that crawl do it from their servers. Here nothing leaves your device — export the URL list from your CMS, database, router or a desktop crawler, paste it and download the file. Reference the sitemap with a Sitemap: line in robots.txt or submit it in Search Console.
How to use it
- Paste the URLs one per line; add lastmod, changefreq or priority after a comma or a tab.
- Set the base URL if the list has relative paths such as /about.
- Choose trailing slash handling, duplicate removal and default values.
- Fix the lines reported as invalid, if any.
- Copy or download sitemap.xml and upload it to the root of your site.
